President explores the progress of constructive work in New Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Andijan is the most densely populated city in Uzbekistan, with one-tenth of the country's population living on just one percent of its territory. Taking this into account, the President's initiative in 2021 led to the decision to build a new city. During his current visit, the head of state was briefed on the first results of the implementation of this large-scale project.

The new city is being built on 4,000 hectares of previously unused agricultural land in the Andijan district. The project is being carried out in eight phases. To date, 63 multi-story buildings have been completed, providing 1,770 apartments.

A school with 1,680 student places, a kindergarten with capacity for 420 children, a clinic with a capacity of 250 visits per shift, as well as a light industry enterprise and a mortgage lending center have already been established.

The President personally inspected the facilities built in the new city.

Some of the apartments have already been occupied. The sound of children's laughter from the playgrounds fills the atmosphere with a special sense of comfort and warmth.

Construction is progressing at an accelerated pace — by the end of the year, another 40 multi-story buildings with more than 1,000 apartments are planned to be completed.

All facilities are equipped with the necessary infrastructure: roads have been built, and electricity, natural gas, water supply, and heating lines have been laid. A reservoir and a distribution station with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters for uninterrupted drinking water supply have been put into operation.

A 19-hectare park called "Yangi Uzbekistan" has been established, where more than 10,000 decorative trees, shrubs, and flowers have been planted. The park features an amphitheater, recreational zones, walking alleys, cafes, playgrounds, and a modern lighting system. This park is set to become one of the main attractions of New Andijan.

Another park of special importance is "Vatandor" located nearby. Here, a monument titled "Oath to the Motherland" has been erected, and a museum, concert venues, and performance stages are being created, which are expected to leave a strong impression on visitors.

The project is large in scale: on a 1,439-hectare area, 2,000 multi-apartment buildings are planned to be constructed. In addition to residential buildings, commercial and service facilities will be built, and green areas covering a total of 1,820 hectares will be improved. Upon completion of all phases, the city will be able to accommodate over 410,000 residents.

During the visit, new initiatives for urban development were also presented. In particular, the reconstruction of the Alisher Navoi Park and the installation of a monument to Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur were proposed. The President emphasized the importance of creating an authentic and expressive image of Babur and suggested transforming the adjacent area into a thematic park dedicated to the heritage of the Baburid dynasty.

The President also visited exhibitions showcasing folk crafts, decorative arts, and fine arts. He proposed holding an annual artists' festival in Andijan.
