President creates Public Council on new history of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution on creation of Public Council on new history of Uzbekistan on 27 January 2012.

In line with the document, the new council was founded under the Ministry of higher and secondary special education of Uzbekistan.

Uzbek leader also abolished the Center of new history of Uzbekistan under the Academy of State and Public Construction under the President.

The resolution said that new council is scientific-coordination, consultative body, which operates to ensure efficiency of researches and teaching of new history, as well as quality of scientific, educational-methodical literature, and enlightening works.

The document said that the President of Uzbekistan approves structure of the Public Council on new history of Uzbekistan.

Main task of the council is to organize systematic study of new history of Uzbekistan, which is based on historical method and objectiveness, as well as avoiding one-sided approach and dogmatism in assessment of historic past and current of the Uzbek people, who have great historic-cultural heritage and contributed to development of global civilization.

New council will study and explain “Uzbek Model” of forming democratic legal state, socially oriented market economy, civil society, wide-scale work directed at ensuring human rights and freedoms, preserving stability, inter-national and inter-religious consent in the society, role of Uzbekistan in modern world.

The structure will also conduct systematic monitoring and expertise of scientific and educational-methodological literatures, educational programmes, teaching new history in Uzbekistan, develop and implement proposals in this direction, as well as train teachers of history.

According to the resolution, the council will raise efficiency of spiritual-enlightening work, including through mass media, directed at forming historic memory, national self-consciousness, high spirituality, respect to historical traditions and cultural heritage of people among population, etc.

New Council will also implement measures directed at revealing facts on falsification and distortion of history of Uzbekistan in foreign literature, as well as informing international community on historic past, social-economic and public-political development of modern Uzbekistan.
