President: Consequences of financial-economic crisis not overcome
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Serious consequences of international financial-economic crisis had not yet been overcome, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said at the SCO summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

“Analyzing current conditions in world economy, we have every reason to believe that serious consequences of international financial-economic crisis had not yet been overcome,” Islam Karimov said.

“Without a doubt, these trends directly or indirectly affect the dynamics of the situation and development of all members of the SCO,” Uzbek leader underlined.

President Islam Karimov said that it is necessary to further deepen cooperation to implement large-scale projects in economy, investment and transport communications, which would meet interests of the countries of the region to ensure sustainable social-economic development of the SCO member states and achieve practical results.

“The decisive role in realization of these objectives, we attach to initiative of China and its President Xi Jinping to create Silk Road Economic Belt, designed to promote long-term economic interests of all the countries in the region, especially, development of trans-regional transport infrastructure, strengthening of geopolitical and the economic potential of its members and entire Central Asian region,” President Islam Karimov said.
