Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, for the first time in the history of our country, a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is being held in the capital’s Uzbekistan Palace of International Forums, Dunyo news agency reported.
The meeting is attended by Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on youth, science, education, health, culture and sports Abdujabar Abduvakhitov, Minister of Sports Development Adkham Ikramov, leadership of the National Olympic Committee, leaders and representatives of the International Olympic Committee and OCA member countries.
Acting head of the OCA Raja Randhir Singh arrived in Tashkent yesterday to attend the meeting.
During the meeting, it was decided to postpone the 19th Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games, which were to be held from 10 to 25 September 2022, due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, to an indefinite date.
In addition, the OCA also studied the situation of the 3rd Asian Youth Games, which were scheduled for 20-28 December 2021 in Shantou, China. Since the Asian Youth Games have already been postponed once, the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games will be cancelled. Therefore, the next Asian Youth Games will be held in 2025 in Tashkent.
As part of the meeting, a presentation of the preparation project for the 4th Asian Youth Games "Tashkent-2025" was held.
