Practicing cardiologists of Uzbekistan to meet to discuss the latest updates in international standards for the treatment of heart diseases

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Project for cardiologists “Protecting lives. With all my heart” starts in three cities of Uzbekistan. As part of it, from 12 to 15 February, a series of scientific and information events will be held for specialists of the republic, where they will talk about modern approaches to the treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

The project was organized with the support of the Institute for Advanced Studies, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Cardiology and the international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

Uzbekistan is one of the leaders in mortality from cardiovascular diseases throughout the world. In 2023, more than 60% of deaths in Uzbekistan occurred precisely due to diseases of the circulatory system. Over the past five years, the incidence of CVD has increased by 20%, even among young people. The most common diseases are coronary heart disease and arterial hypertension.

To combat the high mortality rate due to CVD, it is important to diagnose pathologies in a timely manner and apply effective methods of treating diseases. In order to improve the prognosis of cardiac patients, it is important for the republic’s specialists to comply with international standards for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and adhere to the principles of evidence-based medicine. This is exactly what the events that will be held in February in three cities of the country – Tashkent, Samarkand and Ferghana – will be dedicated to.

Niyaz Khasanov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Propaedeutics of Internal Diseases named after Professor S.S. Zimnitsky at Kazan State Medical University (Russia), will speak to his colleagues. He will talk in detail about cardiovascular diseases, recommendations and real practice in managing patients with acute coronary syndrome. Professor Khasanov will also address the issues of treatment of chronic heart failure through the prism of evidence-based medicine and explain how a rational approach to the selection of modern drugs can change mortality statistics throughout the country.

Niyaz Khasanov, Doctor of Medical Sciences emphasized: “Today, cardiologists have many opportunities to help their patients. Effective antihypertensive drugs have been developed that can correct blood pressure in 95% of patients. There is antithrombotic therapy - antiplatelet agents. When a person has already had a coronary event, this therapy reduces the risk of blood clots, which prevents another event. Each step is prescribed in accordance with international standards and verified by many years of clinical research. It is important that practicing cardiologists are aware of this so that they can apply effective treatment methods. Patient awareness is equally important: they must understand what options are available to prevent the development of their diseases. We will talk about all this during our meetings with colleagues in three cities of Uzbekistan.”
