Practical training session for the first phase of the anti-terrorist exercise "Vostok-Antiterror 2024" takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 August 2024, Tashkent hosted a practical training session for the preparation of the first phase of the joint anti-terrorist exercise of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) called "Vostok-Antiterror 2024." The exercise is organized by the Anti-Terrorist Center of the CIS member states, according to the press office of the ATC CIS.

Participants in the event included representatives from the competent authorities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, the Council of Heads of Financial Intelligence Units of the CIS member states, the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the ATC CIS.

The participants were briefed on the procedures and content of the main stages of the exercise, the use of collective information systems available to the security agencies, special services, and law enforcement agencies of the Commonwealth countries, as well as typical situational tasks of the exercise.

During the session, there was an exchange of practical experience on ensuring the security of critical infrastructure and mass gatherings in the CIS member states. The specifics of conducting measures to enhance anti-terrorist protection were discussed.

The joint anti-terrorist exercise "Vostok-Antiterror 2024" will take place in September this year across the territories of seven Commonwealth countries. The exercise will address training tasks related to detecting and preventing terrorist acts, neutralizing terrorist threats to border security, combating cyberterrorism, and financing terrorist activities.
