Practical cooperation of Uzbekistan with the International Labor Organization to be expanded

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairperson of the National Commission on Combating Trafficking in Persons and Decent Work Tanzila Narbaeva held talks in Geneva with the Regional Director of the ILO Bureau for Europe and Central Asia, Beate Andrees.

Issues of expanding relations between Uzbekistan and the ILO were considered, including bringing cooperation to a new level in the field of creating decent working conditions in the country on a systematic basis.

During the conversation, attention was focused on such areas of cooperation as introducing the principles of decent work and social protection, combating informal employment, providing basic income to people in need of social protection, and introducing self-employment standards.

It was reported that in order to expand the participation of the ILO in our country, in Central Asia as a whole, and to ensure the consistency of constructive dialogue, the position of an international coordinator of the ILO was established in Tashkent. It was noted that this, in turn, will make it possible to introduce the best practices of Uzbekistan in the field of labor relations in the region.

An exchange of views also took place on the creation in the future of a subregional ILO office in Tashkent for all countries of Central Asia.

At the end of the meeting, an agreement was reached to intensify joint cooperation projects with the involvement of highly qualified ILO specialists.
