Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan adopted an Action Programme of the Senate on realization of main clauses and conclusions of the report of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov at the first session of the Senate on 26 January 2010 and joint session of the Legislative Chamber and Senate from 27 January 2010 “Modernization of the country and construction of the strong civil society – our main priority”.

The programme determined the priority directions on further strengthening of the role and impact of the Senate in public-political life of Uzbekistan, ensuring firm and deep interaction of processes on reforming economy and social sphere with modernization of public-political and legal-judicial system.

The programme paid a special attention to firm parliamentary control for law implementation, adopted by the parliament, executive power and the government in the center and local administrations.

The clauses of the programme will be directed to realize such tasks to transform parliament into conductor of democratic reforms, liberal reforms on formation of strong civil society, expansion role and authority of the civil society, etc.

The programme envisages organization of various events directed at implementation of the clauses of the document.
