Uzbek-Egyptian Business Forum took place in Cairo within the framework of the visit of the Uzbek President to Egypt on 17-19 April. The business forum was logic continuation of negotiations of officials of two states.
Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Egypt Business Association, Egypt Commerce Chambers’ Federation organized this business forum.
The forum allowed businesses to create favourable conditions for achievement of agreements on priority directions, set by the intergovernmental commission on cooperation.
It was noted that the visit of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov to Egypt opens opportunities for direct contacts for business circles along with development of cooperation in politics, trade-economy and humanitarian spheres.
The forum said weak information exchange and study of cooperation spheres hinder to increase trade-economic cooperation. The forum allowed its participants to receive information on economic potentials of Uzbekistan and Egypt.
It was said that Uzbekistan can help Egypt to open opportunities of Central Asia and CIS markets, while Egypt can help Uzbekistan to open ways with member countries of Organization of Islamic Conference and Arab League.
Egypt is interested in import of agriculture equipment from Uzbekistan and creation of joint ventures on their production. It was underlined that Uzbekistan can achieve leading places in Central Asian and other markets attracting Egyptian technologies to leather, cotton processing and silk industries.
Egypt also expressed interest in rich natural resources of Uzbekistan.
Within the visit of Uzbek leader, businesses of two states signed over 15 agreements.
