566,300 persons were placed in jobs in Uzbekistan in 2009

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- About 658,200 persons applied to labor agencies for employment in January-December 2009, or 5.6% more year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare of Uzbekistan.

In January-December 2009, 566,300 persons were placed in jobs with the assistance of labor agencies (86% of all persons applied to labor agencies), which was 1.7 percentage points less than in January-December 2008.

The number of citizens registered through labor agencies as those who are looking for a job was 21,100 persons at the end of 2009 versus 22,900 persons as of the end of 2008, which is down by 12% year-on-year.

The greatest number of citizens registered through labor agencies as those who are looking for a job was observed in Tashkent city - 4,200 persons (20.7% of the total number of persons registered in labor agencies), Kashkadarya region - 2,300 persons (11.7%), Surkhandarya region - 2,100 persons (10.3%), Navoi region – 1,500 people (7.4%) and Ferghana region - 1,400 persons (7.1%).

About 0.6% of registered persons as searching jobs were at the age of 16-18, 54.3% - at the age of 18-30 and 43% - at the age of 30-50.
