Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Rights Protection is investigating an advertisement featuring the Minister of Culture and People’s Artist of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov. This was reported by the agency’s press service.
On 2 July, the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, appeared in a commercial for a clothing store in Tashkent. In the advertisement, he tried on several suits and praised the high quality of the products. In conclusion, he called on everyone to support national brands and products.
Internet users raised questions about whether this advertisement complies with the Advertising Law. According to Article 16 of the Advertising Law, advertisements are prohibited from implying that a product is endorsed by government bodies or their officials.
The Committee on Competition noted that one of its main tasks is to monitor legislation related to advertising activities in the country, and therefore, it is analyzing this situation in accordance with the provisions of the Advertising Law.
