Heads of Interior Ministries of Uzbekistan and Russia hold negotiations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Pulat Bobojonov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia.

During the negotiations in Tashkent, current issues of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in law enforcement were discussed.

Vladimir Kolokoltsev highlighted the strategic nature of relations between the two countries. He emphasized that the main migration flows to Russia still come from citizens of CIS countries, especially from Central Asia, due to visa-free entry and the single labor market of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The Russian Minister stated that not all labor migrants operate within the legal framework, and efforts are made to identify and hold them accountable. He informed his Uzbek counterpart about the systematic work of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs to improve migration legislation and outlined its main innovations.

Kolokoltsev urged the Uzbek side to enhance cooperation in key areas to regulate migration flows, mitigate negative trends, and ensure security. Specifically, he proposed joining the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Administrative Matters in the exchange of personal data, submitting information to the Inter-State Information Bank for registration of convicted citizens, and organizing regular exchanges of information on Uzbek citizens who have changed their details.

The Russian Minister supported the Uzbek proposal to establish direct contacts between the Cybersecurity Center of the Uzbek Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Department for Combating Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. He also expressed interest in developing cooperation in combating drug trafficking. Joint activities of the competent authorities of both countries in countering activities of transnational criminal groups have already proven effective.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Vladimir Kolokoltsev thanked Pulat Bobojonov for the constructive dialogue. A corresponding protocol was signed following the negotiations.

Vladimir Kolokoltsev paid tribute to the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War by visiting the Victory Park.

The heads of the Interior Ministries of Uzbekistan and Russia laid flowers at the "Ode to Resilience" composition, dedicated to Uzbek woman Zulfia Zakirova, who lost five sons during the war.

The ministers also visited the Museum of Glory, which presents an exhibition dedicated to Uzbekistan’s participation in the Great Patriotic War. The exhibition includes frontline and near-frontline chronicles, documents from the archives of CIS countries, as well as memoirs from war participants and veterans of labor.
