Uzbekistan to develop transport corridors in cooperation with Europe

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Mamanbiy Omarov met with a delegation of the European Commission for International Cooperation to discuss cooperation within the framework of the coordination platform of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor.

At the meeting, detailed information was presented on current reforms aimed at developing transport and logistics infrastructure in Uzbekistan.

Omarov emphasized Uzbekistan’s readiness to actively participate in EU initiatives aimed at attracting investments to create a stable and safe transport infrastructure.

Particular attention was paid to projects related to the development of regional transport corridors. In particular, it was noted that the Kyzylorda – Uchkuduk railway line project is considered a priority that will contribute to economic benefits for Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as the development of regional integration and trade relations.

The Ministries of Transport of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan presented their proposals to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank and other international financial institutions to finance the technical and economic basis of the project.

Representatives of the delegation expressed confidence in the significance of the created coordination platform for the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, emphasizing its importance as a step towards deepening cooperation between Central Asia and Europe.
