Athletes from Uzbekistan set a Guinness sports record (video)

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first Guinness sports record in Uzbekistan was set by domestic athletes. Six Uzbek strongmen towed a 13-ton plane 100 meters in 46.7 seconds.

The Guinness World Records website published data on the world record set on 15 May 2024 at Tashkent International Airport. Then, in the presence of the Commissioner of the Guinness Book of Records, Ms. Mbali Masechaba Nkosi, the team of the Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness of Uzbekistan towed the Silk Avia ATR 72-600 airliner weighing 13,500 kg over a distance of 100 meters in just 46.7 seconds.

Commenting on the event, Timur Sabirov, President of the Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, said: “This achievement is primarily the merit of the 7SABER brand, whose support our team felt throughout all stages of preparation. In general, there are few places in the world where representatives of business structures support sport and the honor of the flag so much. The assistance that was provided to us by Orient Group, The Burger, Uzbekistan Airports, Silk Avia and the National Airline as a whole is difficult to overestimate. It is clear that without them the Guinness record would not have been possible. At the same time, I would like to separately emphasize the truly outstanding result of our strongmen: 46.7 seconds is an incredible figure. All the experts who were present at the airport on May 15 unanimously say that this record will live for a long time: to surpass it will be, to put it mildly, very difficult.”

The record was set on the first attempt. The original condition of Guinness World Records was the requirement to keep it within 60 seconds. During preliminary training, athletes demonstrated different results, but 46.7 seconds demonstrated on 15 May was the best result.

7SABER General Director Oraz Abdurazakov noted: “The idea of a Guinness record was first conceived during the World Bodybuilding Championships in Tashkent back in 2021. Then our athletes collected a rich harvest of medals, and millions of people across the country realized how spectacular this sport is. However, at that time, the development of small aviation did not allow this project to be implemented at a high level. By this year, everything has changed: several airlines appeared in Uzbekistan, some of which operated small airliners. When we saw the Silk Avia plane with its bright Khan-Atlas style livery, we realized that this airliner was created for a record. That’s how it turned out in the end.”

A team of record-breaking athletes include Bekzod Khudoykulov, Sherzodbek Gainazarov, Farkhod Dadamukhamedov, Umid Khusanov, Bakhshulla Saifullaev and Abrorbek Fozilov.
