A Coordinating Committee of Donors for the Kambarata HPP-1 Construction Project created

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Coordination Committee of donors for the construction project of Kambarata HPP-1 has been created. This was reported by the press service of the World Bank.

The Coordination Committee was created in Vienna (Austria) within the framework of the international energy investment forum of Kyrgyzstan.

The forum was organized by the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the World Bank Group. The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, also took part in the forum.

The World Bank noted that the steering committee included leading international financial institutions and development partners.

The committee will support the development of the project within the framework of a sustainable macroeconomic, commercial, environmental and social model.

The central event of the Forum was the construction project of Kambarata HPP-1, which is intended to become a catalyst for the transformation of the water and energy sector in Central Asia.

The World Bank notes that thanks to unprecedented cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, the project has the potential to take regional cooperation to a new level, ensuring energy security and the transition to a green economy. Moreover, this project will optimize water supply, smoothing out seasonal and cyclical fluctuations. As a result, the capabilities of irrigation, water supply and, consequently, food security in the region will be significantly strengthened.

Within the framework of the forum, a tripartite agreement was signed between the Ministries of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on preparation for the implementation of the project for the construction and operation of Kambarata HPP-1.

According to the agreement, the parties agreed on the further development of cooperation in the energy sector, including renewable energy sources, and the creation of mutually acceptable mechanisms for the use of water and energy resources at Kambarata HPP-1.
