Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A water leak occurred from the Gissar reservoir in Kashkadarya region.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan reported that on 10 June, during engineering and technical measures to lay an additional tunnel on the left side of the reservoir dam, a water leak was discovered.

To eliminate the consequences of the accident, under the leadership of the chairman of the board of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC, an operational headquarters was created, which included the khokim of the Kashkadarya region, the heads of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Department of Internal Affairs and other responsible organizations.

All necessary engineering measures are carried out using special equipment, the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted.

The ministry assured that the situation is under control. The reservoir dam is not damaged. There were no injuries or deaths as a result of the incident. The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges residents not to panic.
