Russia and Uzbekistan sign documents on expanding trade cooperation in the agricultural sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert and General Director of the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection of Uzbekistan Ibrokhim Ergashev signed a number of documents aimed at expanding trade cooperation between the two countries.

To develop cooperation in the field of plant quarantine, an Agreement was concluded to ensure tracking and ensuring the phytosanitary status of fruits and vegetables during mutual supplies.

Also during the meeting, a Roadmap for the development of cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection for the period from 2024 to 2026 was signed.

These agreements are of great importance for the further development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, contribute to the expansion of supplies of regulated products and open up new prospects for cooperation.

Currently, Uzbekistan’s share in the import of fruits and vegetables to Russia is 10%, and this figure is growing annually by 20-30%.

Since the beginning of 2024, about 156 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products have been imported into Russia, which is 26% more than in the same period in 2023.

Separately, it is worth noting the significant increase in the supply of crops such as white cabbage, fresh persimmons, cauliflower and fresh carrots.

Russia is also increasing exports to Uzbekistan, including day-old chickens, cheese, finished meat products, beef, ice cream, dairy products and protein and fat products.
