Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Investors from Uzbekistan are showing interest in the oil and gas fields of Afghanistan, reports TOLONews with reference to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan.

The ministry representative noted that the interest of companies from Central Asia in the oil and gas sector of Afghanistan has increased significantly. He added that representatives of Afghanistan recently held meetings with Uzbek companies.

The total area of oil and gas fields in Afghanistan exceeds 200 thousand square meters. km. Despite this, Afghanistan imports about 90% of hydrocarbons and fuels in Iran and Central Asian countries.

It is worth noting that at the beginning of 2023, the Afghan government entered into an agreement with the Chinese company CAPEIC for oil production in three Afghan provinces.
