Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 May, a meeting was held between the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov and the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe Tatiana Molcean to discuss issues of expanding strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UNECE.

The parties discussed UNECE tools and opportunities to promote the circular economy, green growth and transition to a green economy, as well as the implementation of potential projects under the Vision 2030 Fund.

Molcean expressed satisfaction with her participation in the Third Tashkent International Investment Forum and support for the consistent reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, and highly appreciated the successes achieved.

In turn, the Uzbek side emphasized the importance of the active contribution and efforts of the UNECC in the implementation of the country’s sustainable development program until 2030.

It was noted that within the framework of the Vision-2030 fund, two projects in healthcare and education are being actively implemented.

In particular, within the framework of the project in the healthcare sector, medical equipment is purchased for perinatal centers throughout the republic. As part of the second project, schools and teacher retraining centers are equipped with modern IT equipment.

At the meeting, opinions were also expressed on the need to implement a number of joint projects aimed at protecting nature, increasing energy efficiency, improving the waste management system and reducing their negative impact on the environmental situation.
