Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A joint anti-terrorist exercise of the CIS countries may take place on the territory of Uzbekistan for the first time this year. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) following the results of the 17th meeting of the heads (chiefs of staff) of national anti-terrorism centers of the CIS member states that took place on Wednesday in Moscow, the press service of the CIS Executive Committee reports.
“The delegates noted that anti-terrorism exercises are an important element in testing the effectiveness of the counter-terrorism system and working out the coherence of joint activities. In this regard, the issue of organizing and conducting a joint anti-terrorist exercise of the competent authorities of the CIS member states “East-Anti-Terror - 2024” this year has been considered, the force stage of which will take place for the first time on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan,” the ATC stated.
In addition, at a meeting of the scientific advisory council at the CIS ATC, issues of legal regulation of the use of unmanned systems in the field of combating terrorism, the practice of countering unmanned vehicles used for terrorist and extremist purposes were considered, and the prospects for the development and use of unmanned aircraft systems in the field of security were assessed.
Council members also reviewed problematic aspects and practices of competent authorities in countering the use of artificial intelligence in terrorist and extremist activities and innovative methods for countering cyber terrorism in the context of the use of modern digital tools by international terrorist organizations to finance terrorist and extremist activities.
