Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited secondary school No.5 in Yunusabad district of Tashkent city.

The Strategy “Uzbekistan – 2030” prioritizes reforms in the education system. One essential issue in this area is increasing the number of student places.

The Head of state noted that along with the construction of new education institutions, it is advisable to increase the number of floors of existing education institutions or construct additional buildings.

School No.5, initially designed for 960 students, had 2 thousand boys and girls. Therefore, reconstruction was carried out last year, and additional buildings were built. As a result, 1,700 additional places became available.

The school has created modern conditions in 65 educational, 12 language, and 5 computer classes. A STEM laboratory is available for science, engineering, and technology students. There is a gym, co-working space, and recreational area. The school library contains 5,800 scientific and fiction books.

Today, the school has about 2,600 students. Last year, 163 out of 165 graduates entered higher education institutions.

Uzbekistan attaches great importance to the professional guidance of young people from a young age. At school No.5, high school students learn sewing, cooking, wood, and metalworking skills.

The President inspected the conditions in these courses.

The value and respect for teachers’ work were discussed at the meeting with the members of the Council of School Directors of Tashkent city.

“There were times when attention to the teaching profession weakened. Now, we are trying to restore the prestige of this noble profession and financially motivate teachers. We plan to begin the construction of New Tashkent by laying the foundation for the building of the Pedagogical University. After all, teachers are the basis of New Uzbekistan. Therefore, they must constantly work on themselves and develop their knowledge and methods”, the Head of state said.

Instructions were given to fully utilize the school’s new capabilities, increasing the quality of education to the level of presidential schools.
