Prosecutors General of Uzbekistan and Russia sign a cooperation program

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan Nigmatilla Yuldashev and Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov held talks in Moscow on 2 April.

A delegation of Uzbekistan led by Nigmatilla Yuldashev is visiting Russia at the invitation of Igor Krasnov, the press service of the Russian supervisory organization said.

Igor Krasnov, welcoming his colleague, expressed gratitude for the meeting and reported on a busy program in Moscow and Kazan for the delegation.

At the initial stage of the meeting, Igor Krasnov noted: “As you know, 10 days ago a barbaric terrorist attack occurred in the Moscow region, as a result of which hundreds of civilians were injured. For Uzbekistan, terrorism remains a significant threat.”

“Therefore, it is important to deepen cross-border cooperation in the field of countering terrorist acts, preventing the recruitment of youth by radicals, and to act together and in close coordination. Only in this way will we be able to prevent the spread of the ideology of terrorism,” the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized.

The head of the Russian supervisory organization expressed regret that last year circumstances did not allow Nigmatilla Yuldashev to attend a meeting of the Interstate Anti-Corruption Council in Yekaterinburg as an observer. Using the authority of the chairman of this association, he proposed discussing the possibility of including the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan in this format. “I am convinced that your rich professional experience in the fight against corruption will be in demand in the work of the Council,” added the Russian Prosecutor General.

Igor Krasnov also noted the successful interaction between the two departments within other formats, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He announced the holding in May of this year in Russia of the first expert training event for representatives of the prosecutor’s offices of the member states of this organization, at which the main topic will be the issue of returning criminal assets from abroad. “We have sent an invitation to your employees, and we will be glad to see them in St. Petersburg,” said the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

In addition, Igor Krasnov invited the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan to visit Vladivostok in September and take part in the Eastern Economic Forum. “We traditionally discuss issues of protecting the rights of entrepreneurs through prosecutorial supervision. I am sure that this event will arouse significant interest among you,” noted the Prosecutor General of Russia.

Igor Krasnov expressed special gratitude for the trusting and friendly relations, as well as strong working ties based on the spirit of unity of the fraternal peoples of Russia and Uzbekistan. He confirmed his readiness for further interaction and open dialogue on a wide range of issues. Krasnov recalled the successful cooperation between the prosecutor’s offices of the two countries, including the cooperation program implemented in 2021-2023. “Its results were highly appreciated by both sides, so today we will sign a new program, which includes activities for the exchange of experience in the field of countering common criminal challenges, including in cyberspace,” added the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the meeting, an interdepartmental cooperation program for 2024-2025 was signed.
