Rospotrebnadzor hands over mobile laboratories to Uzbekistan to respond to epidemic risks

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 April, in Tashkent, the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova handed over to the Committee on Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan two modern anti-epidemic mobile laboratories designed to combat biological risks and eliminate outbreaks of dangerous infections.

The handover ceremony was attended by acting Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Asilbek Khudayarov, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhodir Yusupaliev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov.

The latest mobile laboratories, created on the basis of GAZ vehicles and pneumatic frame modules, were developed by Rospotrebnadzor to monitor and indicate epidemic risks.

These laboratories will strengthen the laboratory base of Uzbekistan and will allow for research of biological material and environmental objects, including water and food, under conditions of a high level of biological safety, anywhere in the country. Mobile laboratories will also make it possible to quickly respond to outbreaks of particularly dangerous infections of a bacterial and viral nature in remote areas.

These are not the first laboratories transferred by Rospotrebnadzor to Uzbekistan. 4 mobile laboratories and 2 mobile clinics are already successfully operating in the republic, which were transferred earlier as part of joint projects to combat infectious diseases.

In recent years, through joint efforts of Russia and Uzbekistan, more than 10 projects have been implemented in the field of combating infectious diseases. Currently, Rospotrebnadzor is collaborating with Uzbekistan in the implementation of the International Health Regulations, the fight against HIV infection, countering dangerous natural outbreaks of diseases, including plague, reducing the risks of antimicrobial resistance, as well as studying population immunity to current infections.

Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the field of prevention and control of infectious diseases and ensuring biological safety is strategic and makes a significant contribution to the protection of human health within the common Eurasian epidemiological space.
