Football fans who ran onto the field brought to justice

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The press service of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate announced that fans who ran onto the field during the qualifying match between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong as part of the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup were held accountable.

The incident occurred on 26 March at the capital’s Bunyodkor stadium. After the final whistle, nine fans entered the field.

Of these, six are minors, so their parents were prosecuted and received fines.

The court decided to arrest two of them for 5 days under Articles 183 (petty hooliganism) and 194 (failure to comply with the legal requirements of an internal affairs officer) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. Another one was arrested for 7 days.

The head of the press service of the Football Association of Uzbekistan and commentator Davron Fayziev noted that the match went well, and 30 thousand fans provided support, but a group of fans caused damage to all the preparatory work and the activities of law enforcement agencies responsible for order at the stadium.

According to him, the Asian Football Confederation fined the Football Association for this incident. In addition, this could affect Uzbekistan’s ability to host major international tournaments.
