Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) conducted an analysis of the car market of Uzbekistan over the past month.

A total of 144,500 vehicles were sold, which means an increase of 8% compared to the previous month. Sales of passenger cars increased by 6% since the beginning of the year, reaching 128,000 units.

High growth rates of passenger car sales were noted in Navoi, Ferghana and Bukhara regions.

In the primary car market, sales increased by 1.4%, and in the secondary car market - by 7.6% compared to the previous month. The primary market for domestically produced cars grew by 1%, and in annual terms - by 20%.

The used car market continues to grow: more than 96,000 cars were sold during the month, an increase of 4.4% compared to January of the previous year.

New foreign-made passenger cars are also in demand, with growth of 5.7% in January. The foreign car market increased by more than 37% compared to the previous year.

On the other hand, interest in electric vehicles in Uzbekistan has decreased: sales decreased by 7.8% in January. However, on an annual basis, sales of electric vehicles increased 7.7 times.
