Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 January, the first Uzbek-Chinese interregional forum was held in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China, which was attended by heads of key ministries, departments, industry associations, chambers of commerce and industry, holding companies and more than 1,200 representatives of the business community of our countries.
Speakers emphasized the positive dynamics of the trade and investment partnership. Thus, over the past six years, trade turnover has doubled and surpassed the $14 billion mark. The volume of utilized Chinese investments has exceeded $15 billion. More than 2,000 enterprises with the participation of Chinese capital are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
During the event, further steps and promising directions for increasing cooperation between the two countries were outlined, including through direct interaction between regions and representatives of the business community.
The forum continued with a session of “B2B” and “B2G” negotiations, which aroused keen interest among hundreds of Chinese businessmen. Heads of companies from the two countries were able to discuss details and conclude new mutually beneficial contracts and agreements in various sectors of the economy.
As a result of the forum, 27 documents were signed on the establishment of strong economic, trade and cultural ties between all regions of Uzbekistan and the corresponding provinces of China. In addition, a solid package of 30 agreements and contracts was signed between the business communities of the two countries.
In addition, on the sidelines of the interregional forum at the Xinjiang International Convention & Exhibition Center, the opening of the exhibition of Uzbek products “Made in Uzbekistan” took place.
At 14 stands with a total area of 800 sq.m, in-demand products from the electrical, pharmaceutical, textile and silk industry, leather and footwear products, food, and household chemicals are exhibited.
