Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony of commissioning and connecting to the network 5 solar and 1 wind power plants in six regions of the country on 27 December.

The event was attended by Muhammad Jamil Al Ramahi, CEO of Masdar, Wu Yun, Vice President of China Energy Engineering Corporation, Liu Zexiang, Chairman of the Board of China Energy International Group, Lin Xiaodan, Chairman of the Board of China Gezhouba Group, as well as executives of SEPCO III, Dongfang Electric Corporation and others.

The President noted that the country is implementing a large-scale program to reform and increase the sustainability of the energy system. Favorable conditions were created for the development of the activities of the private sector and leading foreign companies in the industry. With their participation, projects are being successfully implemented to expand the potential of renewable energy.

The President noted important points, such as the commissioning of solar power plants in Karmana and Nurabad districts with a total capacity of 200 megawatts through foreign direct investment under public-private partnership terms, as well as the completion of projects for the construction of photovoltaic stations in Jizzakh, Samarkand and Surkhandarya regions with a total capacity 900 megawatts and commissioning of the first stage of a wind power plant with a capacity of 500 megawatts in the Tamdyn district of the Navoi region.

The completion of the first stage of construction of two solar stations with a total capacity of 1000 megawatts in Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions of the Chinese China Gezhouba Group was also noted. It is indicated that the construction work was completed in record time - in just nine months.

The President, together with foreign partners, launched the commissioning and connection of new energy facilities to the network. He expressed gratitude to investors, engineers and builders for their contribution to the implementation of projects.

As a result of the commissioning of these projects with a total cost of US$2 billion, two million households will receive uninterrupted access to electricity, and it will also be possible to save 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which will facilitate the production of industrial products and services worth US$4 billion.

The President emphasized that the large-scale work being carried out in the country is the next step in implementing reforms in the energy industry. It is planned to increase the capacity of “green” power plants to 27 gigawatts by 2030, which will save 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and reduce emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere by 34 million tons.
