President of Uzbekistan pardons 334 prisoners

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In connection with the thirtieth anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On the pardon of a group of persons serving sentences, who sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction”.

By the decree, 334 individuals serving sentences for crimes and who have demonstrated sincere repentance, as well as confidently moved towards correction, have been pardoned.

Out of this number, 34 individuals have been completely released from serving their main sentences, 249 individuals have been conditionally released, and for 6 persons, the punishment has been replaced with a milder one. In addition, the terms of imprisonment have been reduced for 45 individuals.

Among those pardoned are 18 citizens of foreign states, 23 women, 15 men over 60 years old, and 88 individuals involved in the activities of prohibited organizations.

As part of the implementation of the decree, responsible ministries and departments have been instructed to facilitate the return of the pardoned individuals to their families and loved ones, assist in social adaptation, engage them in useful labor, and contribute to the formation of a healthy lifestyle and integration into society.
