Chairperson of the Senate meets with Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 November 2023, Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan Mohammad Monirul Islam.

During the conversation, all areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh were discussed, particularly issues related to strengthening trade, economic, political, cultural-humanitarian ties, especially inter-parliamentary relations.

Cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries is an important component of the relations between our countries. The parties emphasized the need for the further development of cooperation between the legislative bodies of Uzbekistan and Bangladesh, the effective use of parliamentary control opportunities in implementing the agreements reached.

It was noted that in recent years, special attention has been given to trade and economic cooperation between our countries. Thanks to this, the volume of mutual trade turnover in the first half of 2023 doubled compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. However, the meeting acknowledged that there are enough opportunities for further improving the achieved indicators.

In turn, a proposal was made to develop a plan of practical measures, including the implementation of measures to strengthen cooperation between the trade and industrial chambers of the two states, the establishment of industrial cooperation, and the organization of exhibitions and fairs of industrial products.

Opinions were also exchanged on launching textile clusters and production projects in the free economic zones of Uzbekistan, implementing joint projects based on the great potential of our country in the pharmaceutical industry.

During the dialogue, proposals for expanding cultural and humanitarian ties, especially in the fields of culture and pilgrimage tourism, were discussed.

At the end of the meeting, the diplomat noted that he would make every effort for the further development of relations between our countries.
