Legislative Chamber adopted the state budget for 2024

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan considered the bill on the country’s state budget for 2024 in the second reading.

The discussion included an analysis of revenues and expenditures of the state budget and state trust fund budgets, as well as activities provided for in the project for local budgets and state trust funds.

Deputies paid special attention to increasing budget revenues and studied proposals to minimize the shadow economy, abolish ineffective tax breaks, create equal opportunities for entrepreneurs, and effectively use budget funds.

The project also provides for the establishment of differentiated fares for vehicles with a carrying capacity of more than 10 tons. It is planned to charge a fee of 5 to 10 sizes of basic estimated value depending on the carrying capacity.

Regarding the excise tax introduced in the first reading, additional study was carried out taking into account the impact of the proposed excise tax on prices and financial results of business entities. It is proposed to establish an excise tax of 2,000 soums per liter of energy drinks.

Additional funds will be allocated for healthcare, physical education and sports, as well as for the development of information and library institutions.

The deputies discussed issues raised in various areas, such as healthcare, education, agriculture, culture, and also discussed issues of subsidies, budget openness, improving the system of financial control and internal audit, as well as the introduction of health insurance.

The adopted bill is aimed at ensuring financial stability and efficient use of budget funds.
