Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Based on the fact of the explosion in Sergeli, the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case under Article 259 (Violation of fire safety rules), part 2, paragraphs “a” and “b”.

The article envisages punishment in the form of restriction of freedom from two to five years or imprisonment for up to five years with deprivation of a certain right.

An investigative team of specialists from relevant authorities has been formed. A forensic examination has been ordered to establish the cause of the fire, and investigative actions are being urgently carried out.

On 28 September at 02:43 in the Kuruvchilar area in Tashkent, a powerful explosion occurred at a customs warehouse, causing a fire. There are injuries as a result of the accident. Videos on social media show extensive damage to homes and other properties;

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 16 fire and rescue crews and 3 ladder trucks were sent to the scene of the explosion. They arrived at 2:48 and began extinguishing the fire and cleaning up the damage.
