Akbar Juraev and Ruslan Nurudinov win gold and silver medals at the World Weightlifting Championships
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Uzbek weightlifting school once again proved that it remains unrivaled in the world in the weight category up to 109 kg. Our compatriots, Olympic champions Akbar Dzhuraev and Ruslan Nurudinov won gold and silver medals at the World Championships in this weight.
Juraev, who showed a result of 189 kg in the snatch, 227 kg in the clean and jerk and 415 kg in the total of two exercises, won 2 gold and 1 silver medals.
Another of our compatriots, Nurudinov, who managed 180 kg in the snatch, took fourth place. In the clean and jerk, he chalked up a gold medal with 226 kg, and the sum of the two exercises showed a result of 407 kg and he was awarded a silver award.
The bronze medal in the sum of two exercises went to Azerbaijani Dadash Dadashbayli, who showed a result of 403 (180+223) kg.
