Uzbek, Russian sport ministers hold a meeting in Khiva
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin and the Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov held a working meeting as part of the business visit of the head of the Russian department to Khiva (Republic of Uzbekistan).
“Recently in Minsk, you and I took part in an extended meeting of the boards of heads of CIS sports departments, at which we put forward a number of initiatives to expand sports cooperation within the CIS and the SCO.
I am convinced that the agreements reached during the meeting, as well as the work within the Russian-Uzbek sports subcommittee, will serve to further develop and strengthen bilateral ties between our countries,” said Oleg Matytsin.
During the working meeting, Oleg Matytsin noted the extensive interaction between the two countries in the field of physical culture and sports.
“We pay great attention to the participation of athletes from Uzbekistan in sporting events held on the territory of the Russian Federation. Last week, the International University Sports Festival ended in Yekaterinburg, in which 270 universities from 36 countries took part. I express my gratitude to you for the traditionally high level of participation of athletes in competitions held in Russia,” added the head of the Russian department.
Oleg Matytsin’s working visit will continue on 8 September. On Friday, the Minister will take part in the High-Level Forum on the further development and popularization of ethnic sports.
