Central Asian University for the Study of Environment and Climate Change Green University established in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Central Asian University for the Study of Environment and Climate Change Green University was established in Uzbekistan.

The University was established on the basis of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to transform the sphere of ecology and environmental protection and organize the activities of the authorized state body”. Green University will start accepting applicants in September 2023.

The purpose of creating the university is the effective management of local, regional and global environmental problems, strengthening regional cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, the introduction of innovative ideas, practices and technologies in the implementation of the scientific and intellectual potential of Uzbekistan.

The main tasks of the University:

training, retraining and advanced training of highly qualified specialists, scientists, researchers, managers and entrepreneurs who are able to solve important environmental, socio-economic and scientific and technical problems of Uzbekistan and Central Asia;

introduction of new knowledge and implementation of interdisciplinary research in the field of ecology, environmental protection, nature management and sustainable development to support national, regional and international innovation systems;

development, adaptation and implementation of advanced educational programs, innovative pedagogical methods and technologies used by the world’s leading "green" universities;

integration of research and practical knowledge, organization of activities on a cluster basis, exchange of academic and professional experience, introduction of the integration of education, science and production;

attracting foreign scientific experts, developing scientific research and establishing strategic partnerships with the "green" universities of the world, which occupy leading positions in international rankings;

creation of a continuous education system for training, retraining and advanced training of specialists, as well as special educational programs for managerial personnel in the field of ecology, environmental protection, forestry and hydrometeorology;

coordination of activities, strengthening the material and technical base and the potential of scientific personnel of educational institutions and research institutes that are part of the University.

The university is a state higher educational institution, whose activities are organized according to the principle of "Hub and Spoke". This model is based on strategic cooperation and mutually beneficial collaborations, creating an integrated academic system, resource optimization, mobility of students and professionals, and also helps to increase the potential of local specialists, exchange knowledge and experience.

Training is conducted in Uzbek, Russian and English on the basis of a credit-modular system with the help of lectures, laboratory and individual classes, practical work in groups, critical thinking, problem solving and experiments. At the undergraduate stage, taking into account the requirements of the state educational standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan - in English and in one of the official languages of the United Nations;

The educational process is carried out on the basis of a state grant and a paid contract according to the principle of integration of "science - education - production".

Starting from the first year, students are given the opportunity to undergo qualifying practice in industrial and scientific centers, and undergraduates - to continue their studies in leading foreign higher educational institutions and undergo qualifying practice in prestigious foreign companies through the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation.

The academic programs of the university will be formed in two categories: flagship (core programs), some of which will be provided jointly with the world’s leading universities as joint programs (joint programs), as well as in collaboration with specialized universities in Uzbekistan in order to expand the environmental agenda and knowledge.

Applicants who have certificates from leading, recognized international examination systems (TOEFL, IELTS, CEFR, SAT General, SAT Subject and others) are awarded maximum scores in the relevant subjects in the prescribed manner and subsequently they are exempted from taking exams in these subjects.

State grants are provided:

graduates of Presidential Schools with diplomas or certificates of relevant international programs (International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, International Advanced Levels);

graduates of specialized technical schools in the system of the Ministry on the basis of entrance examinations in accordance with the admission parameters allocated for these institutions;

winners of the International Ecology Olympiad (INEPO), International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), International Physics Olympiad (IPO), International Chemistry Olympiad (ICO), International Biology Olympiad (IBO), International Geography Olympiad (IGO), International Olympiad in Informatics (IIO) and International Olympiad in Land Subject (IESO);

citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who scored high in the entrance exams to the University;

children from families included in the information system "Unified Register of Social Protection" who successfully passed the entrance exams to the University.

Every year, citizens of Central Asian countries will be allocated at least 25 grant places for studying in the areas of undergraduate education, as well as at least 20 grant places for master’s and doctoral studies (PhD) in the manner and on conditions determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan who graduated from the University are included by the Civil Service Development Agency in the National Personnel Reserve, with the acquisition of five years of work experience - in the list of promising candidates appointed to senior positions in their specialty.
