At the event, which took place in Tashkent, at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the results of the active work of the participants and mentors of the teams for 4 months of the program were summed up.

Technovation Girls is an international technology competition for girls, which takes place annually in 160 countries around the world. The purpose of the competition is to instill in the participants "flexible" skills, to interest girls in IT technologies, business and entrepreneurship in the IT field.

The 12-week program included training modules on programming, marketing, business and presentation skills.

Trainings and seminars were held in Tashkent, Nukus, Ferghana and online. The girls learned how to solve socially significant problems with the help of technology and created innovative mobile applications in areas related to the Sustainable Development Goals.

“Participation in the Technovation program is a great opportunity for girls to try their hand at IT and develop leadership skills. The use of technology and innovation to solve social problems in our country, the involvement of girls in science and technology will always be supported by the ministry,” said Fazilat Kadirova, head of the Agency for Innovative Development under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“This season of Technovation Girls, thanks to the support of partners, we were able to reach a large number of participants in various regions, and 78 teams developed social mobile applications on topics such as gender equality, projects using artificial intelligence, projects in the field of ecology, healthcare , education and volunteering. These are record numbers for us, and we are glad that so many girls are interested in IT technologies and development opportunities in STEM. We are also grateful to the team mentors who helped and inspired our participants,” says Saida Yusupova, director of the NGO Tech4Impact.

“I mentored a team from my hometown, Ferghana. Pleasantly surprised by how young girls are concerned about social issues and strive to make a difference with their talent and technology. For example, our team has developed a marketplace that brings together volunteers to jointly help in charitable areas. Technovation turned out to be a real express school of management, to which I devoted six years of study at the university. It inspires me that Yandex supports such educational projects, and we, the company’s employees, have the opportunity to become active participants in this initiative,” said Daria Tsoi, Yandex Taxi’s Leading Manager of Infrastructure Projects in International Markets.

“During the project, the participants tried on the roles that really exist in IT companies. The girls worked, like us, in sprints, learned to work in a team, tried their hand at project management, and managed to meet deadlines. And all this despite being busy at school. I was struck by their creativity, ability to explore and the courage to implement their plans,” said another project mentor, Aziza Jumaboeva, Yandex Search Developer Analyst

On 30 May, an interesting program was held for guests and participants of the event, including:

Technovation Girls teams (girls aged 8-18) from Tashkent, Andijan, Jizzakh, Namangan, Nukus, Samarkand and Ferghana demonstrated the results of their work on projects, presented their social mobile applications at the exhibition stands.

10 Technovation Girls teams were awarded in thematic nominations from the partners of the event (among the nominations are the best projects on the use of artificial intelligence, gender equality, ecology, healthcare, equal opportunities).

The meeting ended with a festive ceremony and the presentation of prizes and certificates to all participants and mentors of Technovation Girls 2023.

The international jury of Technovation Girls will determine several teams that will continue to participate in the international competition from Uzbekistan on 1 June 2023.
