President: It is necessary to turn the Chilanzar region into an industrial hub

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 May, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of enterprises of the Chilanzar industrial zone in the city of Tashkent.

Today, 510 enterprises operate in the industrial zone, new production facilities are being created.

In particular, one of the food industry enterprises produces 7,000 tons of products per year, including 10 types of chips. The second stage of the project will soon be launched, which will expand the range of products.

The furniture company operating here annually produces 2 million square meters of wooden panels, most of which are imported.

The functional nutrition plant has launched the production of iodized confectionery products with a capacity of 5 million packages per year. It is planned to export 30 percent of the products.

The head of state examined the technological process of enterprises. Drawing attention to the unique focus of each production, he pointed out the need to create such capacities in all regions. Noting the importance of iodized food products for the health of the population, the President instructed to increase the production of food products enriched with iodine.

A presentation of plans for the development of industry in the Chilanzar region was also held here.

- Chilanzar region has a huge infrastructure, there are many unused buildings and guaranteed access to energy resources. It is only necessary to financially support entrepreneurs, bring foreign technologies and turn Chilanzar into an industrial hub, the President said.

The head of state emphasized that economic projects should also bring a social effect. The need to assist entrepreneurs in the development and expansion of activities was emphasized so that they could participate in reducing poverty and increasing employment in mahallas. The task was set to provide jobs for 3,000 low-income and 10,000 unemployed citizens of the region, including through the participation of a recently launched new program.

The President also viewed an exhibition of goods produced by enterprises of the Chilanzar region.
