Checkpoints on the border between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to work in an enhanced mode

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Checkpoints on the Kazakh-Uzbek border will operate in an enhanced mode. This decision was made in connection with the accumulation of trucks at the border, the press service of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan reported.

In addition, the traffic flow was redistributed at the border, and the staff of customs posts was staffed with additional personnel to accelerate control operations for the passage of vehicles across the border.

An interdepartmental working group was also created, consisting of the State Revenue Committee, the border service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a visit to the Kazakh-Uzbek border.

The State Revenue Committee recalled that since May, the import of fruits and vegetables to Kazakhstan from Uzbekistan (including those in transit to the Russian Federation) has traditionally increased due to the seasonal period.

In February 2023, reconstruction was announced at the Kazakh checkpoints Kazygurt and Atameken on the border with Uzbekistan. Until the modernization was completed, these checkpoints were to be open only to trucks. There, work is underway to modernize and technically equip nine automobile checkpoints.

On 1 November 2022, the Zangiota-Koplonbek automobile checkpoint from the side of Kazakhstan was closed for modernization and technical equipment. According to the project, the point will not work for 19 months. After the repair, the capacity of the checkpoint will increase up to eight times, the passage through the border will be reduced from two hours to 25 minutes.
