UzAuto, together with BYD Auto, to build a BYD Uzbekistan Factory in Uzbekistan for the production of hybrid cars

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 May 2023, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of a state visit to the People’s Republic of China, launched the construction of a car production plant based on alternative and renewable energy sources BYD Uzbekistan Factory. This historically important event makes Uzbekistan not only the only country in the CIS producing new type of energy vehicles (NEV), but also the country with the first experience of foreign production expansion for the world leader BYD Auto.

BYD Uzbekistan Factory became the first joint venture of the Chinese world leader in electric vehicles outside of China, which was made possible thanks to the production achievements of the Uzbek automotive industry and the economic attractiveness of Uzbekistan.

An agreement with the giant automaker on the possibility of considering UzAuto as a partner was reached in February 2022.

The launch of the first stage of production of BYD cars on the basis of the joint plant "BYD Uzbekistan Factory" is scheduled for the fall of this year.

The BYD Uzbekistan Factory with a production area of 10.6 hectares will be created on the basis of the Jizzakh Auto plant in Jizzakh region and operate in accordance with international quality and safety standards, allowing the introduction of advanced technologies for the production of NEV vehicles.

To date, the production building of the joint venture is fully prepared for the start of the project.

Together with a partner, BYD Auto, they developed layout diagrams and technological documentation for the main production lines of the plant, as well as a detailed plan for the start of mass production.

The production facilities of the BYD Uzbekistan Factory on the basis of the Jizzakh Auto plant will be equipped for the annual production of more than 50,000 NEV vehicles of the BYD Chazor and Song Plus models at the first stage, as well as the further creation of a full-cycle car production base (CKD : stamping, welding, painting, assembly). This, in turn, will create more than 2,000 new jobs at the enterprise.

The new production facility, based on the Jizzakh Auto plant in the Jizzakh region, is the result of long and thorough negotiations between BYD Auto, UzAuto and the government of Uzbekistan to successfully introduce advanced technologies, create jobs and train highly qualified personnel.

Uzbekistan, as the main automotive hub of Central Asia, is on the verge of a new round of development of its industrial potential in accordance with modern trends.

The organization of the production of BYD cars in Uzbekistan will allow the country to gain access to advanced technologies in the field of electric vehicle industry and master the production of innovative cars with low carbon emissions. This will also have a positive impact on the development of environmentally friendly transport and the reduction of harmful emissions into the atmosphere. This significant event will have long-term positive consequences for the country, including economic development, environmental sustainability and technological progress.

BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd. ("Build Your Dreams") is a subsidiary of the multinational company BYD Co Ltd, which develops and manufactures new energy vehicles (NEV), has more than 30 factories for the production of vehicles and components, R&D centers and ranks 1st in sales of NEVs in the world.
