Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15-16 March 2023, in the city of Shymkent of the Republic of Kazakhstan, negotiations were held between JSC Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy to increase the capacity of the Saryagash MGSP with the improvement of technological processes at the Ok Kuprik (Uzbekistan) and Saryagash (Kazakhstan) stations.
At the meeting, it was noted that in 2022 the volume of freight traffic through the MGSP amounted to 32 million tons per year, or 22 pairs of freight trains per day on average.
To achieve and increase the projected volumes, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari JSC informed about the completion of work in August this year on the reconstruction of the Ok Kuprik station (Uzbekistan) with the lengthening of existing and construction of additional receiving and departure tracks.
As a result of the implementation of this project, the throughput through the Ok Kuprik border checkpoint will be increased from 30 to 45 pairs of trains per day and, accordingly, the volume of cargo transportation will increase from up to 60 million tons per year. In this connection, the Uzbek side appealed to JSC “NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” about the need to take measures to increase the capacity of the “Saryagash” station.
To further speed up the passage of trains, the issue of mutual provision by both parties of complete preliminary information on the goods brought to the MGSP, as well as reducing the time of technical and commercial inspections, was considered.
As a result of the negotiations, the Protocol of the bilateral meeting was signed.
