Specialists from China arrive in Uzbekistan to become advisers to the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of large-scale socio-economic reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, addressing the issues of overcoming poverty and creating effective mechanisms to prevent the growth in the number of poor families are identified as priority tasks.

It is worth noting that China is the first country in the world to declare a complete victory over absolute poverty. And such high achievements did not go unnoticed by the world community and were recognized by the UN and a number of international organizations.

The dynamically developing strategic partnership between the two countries has opened up wide opportunities for studying China's best practices in this area.

Vivid evidence of this is the agreement reached between the leaders of the two countries on holding joint activities to study and implement Chinese experience in the fight against poverty.

In order to implement this agreement in practice, with the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in China, a visit of Chinese scientists Zhang Qi and Wang Xiaolin to Uzbekistan was organized.

During the meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction, key priorities for joint work were discussed.

Zhang Qi, professor of the Institute of Economics and Resource Management of Beijing Normal University, noted that “In a very short time of our stay, we felt how much attention the Government of Uzbekistan pays to poverty reduction and we are ready to provide the necessary assistance in achieving our goals.”

At the first stage, specialists will travel to the regions to study the current state of work in the field.

Based on the results of the analysis, it is planned to develop financial and non-financial criteria for determining poverty.

Further, on the basis of a scientific approach, targeted programs for getting out of poverty will be created with their subsequent implementation at the level of regions, districts and mahallas.

It also envisaged the introduction of a mechanism for monitoring the effectiveness of these programs.

Particular attention will be paid to the transformation of the vocational training system through the revision of curricula. Such a measure will allow developing the skills of the “future”, which are in demand both in the domestic and foreign labor markets.
