Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan intend to develop further bilateral cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan Saidikram Niyazkhojaev.

The parties discussed the implementation of industrial cooperation projects, the expansion of cooperation in the field of industry, transport and the military-industrial complex.

Marat Karabaev noted that in the field of industrial cooperation, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are implementing 42 joint projects worth US$2.1 billion with the creation of more than 10 thousand jobs. Of these, on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan - 29, in the Republic of Uzbekistan - 13.

Also during the meeting, projects of the transport industry were discussed, in particular, the construction of a new railway line "Darbaza - Maktaaral".

The implementation of the project for the construction of a line from the Darbaza station to the Maktaaral station with a length of 106 km will unload the Saryagash checkpoint and attract additional cargo traffic up to 10 million tons per year, as well as connect the Maktaral district of the Turkestan region with the main railway line.

Also, following the results of the negotiations, Marat Karabaev and Saidikram Niyazkhojaev agreed to help increase flights between the countries.

To date, there are 20 flights a week between the two countries: 5 flights Astana-Tashkent, 14 flights Almaty-Tashkent and 1 flight Aktau-Nukus.
