Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Canada discuss the prospects for establishing sister city relations between the regions of the two countries
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the 29th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Poland, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly.
The parties reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Canadian cooperation in the diplomatic, political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields.
The necessity of expanding the legal base of bilateral relations and strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to the active promotion of economic diplomacy by attracting Canadian investors to projects in various sectors of Uzbekistan, establishing contacts between representatives of the business circles of the two countries.
Interest was expressed in expanding scientific and educational ties through mutual visits and the implementation of academic programs with Canadian universities, opening branches of leading Canadian universities in Uzbekistan.
The prospects for establishing sister city relations between the regions of the two countries, the implementation of joint projects in the areas of ecology, digitalization and the "green economy" were discussed.
