Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Uzbekistan, the number of patients with coronavirus has increased significantly since November. In particular, yesterday in our country the disease was registered in 155 people.
The growth dynamics is primarily due to the fact that the days are getting colder and people spend most of their time in closed buildings and structures. In addition, an increase in the number of patients is caused by new mutations of COVID-19 with a high level of contagiousness. What sub-variant of "omicron" has become dominant in Uzbekistan today?
To determine it, samples were taken from 27 patients hospitalized in the Zangiota Specialized Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 1 on 10-12 November 2022.
The analyzes were carried out by sequencing at the Center for Advanced Technologies under the Ministry of Innovative Development. As a result, it became known that 27 patients were infected with the omicron subvariant of the BA.5 strain.
The incubation period for infection with a variant of the coronavirus infection "omicron"-strain BA.2 is 2-3 days versus 5-6 days for other strains.
Its main features:
sore throat,
hectic fever (up to 41 degrees),
severe headache and muscle pain,
weakness,
drowsiness,
conjunctivitis (in 10% of cases),
rhinitis and tonsillitis (in 40% of cases),
otitis (in 10% of cases),
diarrhea (in 10% of cases).
As well as:
strong and paroxysmal cough,
in some cases, chest pain,
dyspnea.
“Lung tissue damage is observed in 30-40 percent of cases,” says Anvar Khusanov, director of the Zangiata Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 1. “Most of these patients are our compatriots who took antibiotics, hormonal drugs and intravenous drips at home or in some private clinics without the necessary prescriptions.”
