Nurmat Otabekov: "Complications can be serious"

01/12/2022 10:55

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Various messages are circulating on social networks about an increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection and a return to the mask regime.

What is the most common strain of the virus? What are the complications? Nurmat Otabekov, Deputy Head of the Service for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, answered these questions.

“Over the past 10 days, the virus has been spreading around the world. According to available data, the strain “omicron” is spreading. Also in the conditions of Uzbekistan, the incidence is growing. If we take the last seven days, we have hospitalized almost 500 patients and discharged about 350 patients,” says Otabekov.

He noted that the Omicron strain is widely spread in Uzbekistan. When it first entered our country, it was mainly detected in the elderly, and now it does not choose the age.

“We are concerned that patients with acute respiratory virus and coronavirus are admitted to hospitals. With a mixed infection - two infectious agents infect the body at the same time, its complications can be more serious,” says the deputy head of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service.
