Viacheslav Volodin lays flowers at the mausoleum of the first President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and a delegation of the State Duma laid flowers at the mausoleum of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in Samarkand. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Viacheslav Volodin also met with the Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nuriddin Ismoilov.

During the visit to Samarkand, the delegation toured the Registan Square and the madrasah (spiritual school) Tillya-Kori.

During a visit to the Gur Emir mausoleum, the family tomb of the Timurids, the deputies were told about the history of the dynasty and its founder, Amir Timur.

The delegation also examined the observatory of Ulugbek, the grandson of Timur, built in the 15th century, and the modern tourist center "The Great Silk Road".
