Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first fully automated parking in Uzbekistan, designed for 333 parking spaces, was launched in test mode in front of the departure terminal of Tashkent International Airport. This is the first car park that operates without human intervention.
The parking system will allow for entry/exit and acceptance of payments by recognizing license plates of cars. Drivers are offered two ways to pay for parking. With automatic identification of the car number, parking can be paid through a special parking meter in cash or using a QR code. To do this, you need to dial the car number and the amount for payment will appear on the display of the parking meter. If the number of the car is not determined automatically, you must take a parking ticket at the entrance and pay at the parking meter.
“As part of the reconstruction of Uzbekistan Airports car parks, parking equipment of the Japanese brand Amano was purchased and installed from K2. A complete integrated solution allows you to automate the entire process - entry, exit and payment. In Uzbekistan, there are no such solutions today, especially solutions that automatically give change to the client after payment. The system is currently in test mode. At the same time, some technical nuances are being finalized to add additional license plate templates, supplement payment methods, and work is underway on the psychological perception of new technologies by motorists,” said Kirill Lavrik, director of the IT department.
At the moment, all banknotes, both new and old, are accepted for payment, with the possibility of receiving change, payment is available using the QR code of the Payme payment system. In the near future, payment by QR code of other payment systems will appear, as well as payment by Visa, Mastercard, Humo and UzCard bank cards. The setup and integration with the parking system of a mobile application is also being completed, which will allow you to pay for parking without leaving your car.
“The launch of automated parking, functioning without the human factor, is not only convenience and technology, without which no area can exist today, but also an important step that allows us to get away from corruption and bribery. Based on data obtained from literally two days of system operation, 99% of drivers pay for parking in cash, which makes the leakage of funds inevitable. Automation completely excludes the fact of corruption - it is impossible to negotiate with the parking meter and the parking meter does not hide the proceeds. Full financial transparency,” said Rano Juraeva, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports.
This is the first step towards automating parking lots. At the moment, installation and adjustment of equipment is underway at the second parking lot - in front of the arrivals terminal. In the future, the remaining parking lots of the capital airport will be automated.
