Indonesia earthquake death toll rises to 162
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The death toll from the earthquake in Indonesia has risen to 162 people. New data on the victims were announced by representatives of the authorities of the province of West Java, TASS reported.
The local publication Compass specified that most of the victims of the earthquake were children. Earlier it was said about 56 dead local residents.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 74 kilometers southeast of the capital of Indonesia. It was found that the source of shocks lay at a depth of about five kilometers. The magnitude of the earthquake was estimated at 5.1.
The worst damage was caused by the Chianjur district in the province of West Java. Schools and hospitals, several administrative buildings and seven houses were destroyed.
