UN plans to issue US$100m to Uzbekistan within six years
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The United Nations plans to issue US$100 million to assist to development of Uzbekistan in 2010-2015. The funds are issued within the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF), which was launched on Friday, 23 October 2009.
UN Permanent Coordinator Anita Nirodi said the UNDAF portrays strategy of partnership between the UN and the Government of Uzbekistan for next six years. The programme consists of four directions - ensuring economic well-being, access to quality social services, environment issues and governance.
Anita Nirodi underlined that the UN is partner, not only financing side. She said the role of UN is to realize programmes and be catalyst for attraction of donor funds to achieve goals.
