Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On Monday, Uzbekistan was selected at the host country of the 46th World Chess Olympiad during the FIDE Congress. This was announced today by the chairman of the Chess Federation of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Youth Affairs Alisher Sadullayev.
The majority of delegates voted for holding the competition in Uzbekistan. It is assumed that the competition will be held either in Tashkent or Samarkand. In 2024, the World Chess Olympiad will be held in Budapest (Hungary).
The World Chess Olympiad is a team tournament for teams that are members of the FIDE (International Chess Federation). The tournament was first held in 1927 in London. Since 1950, competitions have been held every two years.
