Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Government resolution approved the Regulation on the procedure for licensing advocacy through a special electronic system.
According to the Regulations, the licensing of advocacy is carried out in the following specializations:
- civil and economic legal proceedings;
- administrative and criminal proceedings.
Each lawyer has the right to independently choose the appropriate specialization and pass a qualifying examination for it.
The applicant must meet the following requirements to obtain a license:
- be a citizen of Uzbekistan;
- have a higher legal education;
- have at least 2 years of work experience in the legal specialty;
- undergo an internship in a lawyer structure for a period of at least 3 months;
- successfully pass the qualifying exam.
The applicant submits an online application for a license through AS "License" or through the SPSI (my.gov.uz).
Applications can be sent within 24 hours daily, regardless of weekends and holidays.
A candidate who has successfully passed the qualification exam for each chosen specialization must apply to the relevant licensing authority (Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, departments of justice of the regions and the city of Tashkent) within 3 months to obtain a license.
The license is issued for an unlimited period at the place of permanent residence of the applicant and is valid throughout the territory of Uzbekistan.
A fee of 50 percent of the basic estimated value (150,000 soums) is charged for consideration of the application.
After paying the fee, the application is automatically sent to the licensing authority at the place of permanent residence of the applicant.
Accordingly, the application is considered within 10 working days.
If a decision is made to issue a license, a notification is sent to the applicant.
The applicant pays the state fee (in the amount of 1 basic estimated value - 300 thousand soums) no later than 3 months from the date of sending the notification. After payment of the state fee, the license is sent to the applicant in electronic form with a QR code.
This order comes into force on 1 January 2023.
